Judge it yourself

What a marketing agency, an app or DIY costs, and how Evensteer compares.

Evensteer is where agentic AI meets human intelligence, handling the website and tech setup, marketing, sales, leads and admin for small businesses, coaches, freelancers and mentors. You do the part you’re good at and approve every piece, and it goes out under your name. Here’s a plain account of what’s structurally different, with other companies’ public prices and links, so you don’t have to take our word for anything.

The short version

The best description of us was written by a customer — someone else’s

A business owner wrote it on a public forum. She’d stopped paying a social-media agency $2,000 a month ($24,000 a year) and found a middle ground. In her words: “It’s not a full-service agency, but it’s not just a software tool either.” A real specialist creates the work. Software keeps the schedule. She approves everything before it ships. Her new cost with another company: about $1,900.

We run a middle ground too, but ours covers more than social posts. Website, marketing, leads, follow-up: all the work nobody taught you. A specialist runs it on our platform, and it ships under your name. Agencies build and disappear. Software hands you one more login, and 54% of US small business owners still run their marketing on their own (BrightLocal, 2025). We haven’t found another company where one team runs all of it and answers for it. If you find one, we’d genuinely like to know.

And it isn’t built from the outside looking in. Our founder, Shaikh Amir Hussain, worked inside the coaching industry, at an established coach-training academy, and spent years freelancing before that. Evensteer is the system he wished existed while doing both.

The AI question, answered first

AI makes our specialists faster. It never makes the decisions.

A founder recently wrote about firing her social-media agency: “They weren’t using AI as a tool. They were outsourcing their taste to it…” She went on: “I want AI to make talented people faster. I don’t want it to make mediocre work cheaper.”

She’s right, and the numbers agree. Content people merely suspect is machine-written rates 48% less trustworthy and 57% less authentic (Raptive, 2025). Suspicion alone is enough to do the damage. That’s why nothing here ships on AI’s judgment. AI drafts. A specialist reviews. You approve. It ships under your name.

It’s also why you’ll never see us lead with “AI-powered.” The product is the named person whose job is to catch what the model gets wrong, before your clients ever see it.

What the named options charge, and what they do

Named prices are public, current, and linked below, so you can compare them yourself. The retainer row is a typical market range.

What you’d normally stack Public price What it does for you The gap it leaves
A coaching platform
Paperbell, HoneyBook, CoachAccountable
$9–$57/mo CRM, contracts, payments. Useful after you’ve built the practice. DIY. No one builds your site, runs your marketing, or answers a lead for you.
A template-site agency
CoachingWebsites, Brighter Vision
$69–$99/mo + setup A website, hosting, maybe an email address. They build and leave. No platform, no leads, no network, no one accountable after launch.
A directory listing
Noomii Pro / Elite
$447–$1,164/yr
+ 15–30% on clients it sends
A lead source: clients who find you in a directory. Open listing, no vetting, and they take a slice of every sale you make.
A marketing agency
The market’s three tiers
$500–$5,000/mo Real marketing: one channel at the low end, ads and weekly strategy at the high end. Pricing guides warn that the cheapest packages often mean template work. We don’t sell tiers: every engagement is a written scope with a fixed price.
An all-in-one agency platform
GoHighLevel
$97–$497/mo
+ $500/mo for real support
Genuinely powerful software, if you configure and run it yourself. It’s built for agencies that run other people’s accounts, not for owners running one practice. It shows people want one tool that does it all. It also shows owners won’t run one themselves. Reviewers say setting up a client account properly is “typically weeks of work, not an afternoon.”
A managed coaching marketplace
BetterUp-style commission model
Part of every fee Client matching and billing handled by the platform. The platform is the merchant of record, not you. For every session you deliver, part of the fee never reaches you.

Prices from each company’s public page, checked August 2026: Paperbell · HoneyBook · CoachAccountable · CoachingWebsites · Brighter Vision · Noomii · GoHighLevel. We link them so you can verify, not because we endorse them.

Weighing an agency or a freelancer instead? Should you outsource your marketing, and to whom?

Already paying for one of these? Bringing your client list, contracts, and calendar over is part of onboarding, not a second project you have to find time for.

Reviewers on Capterra and comparison guides note that Paperbell brings no marketing. You find the clients, and it manages them after. They also note that CoachAccountable’s price climbs steeply as your client list grows. MentorCruise’s own fee docs show minimum platform fees that can reach roughly 28% of a small plan. The gap in the market is the gap in this table.

A typical agency

  • Builds the website, hands it off
  • No system for what happens after launch
  • No peer network, no ongoing relationship

A typical AI tool

  • Software only — you build the practice yourself first
  • One more login in a stack of eight
  • A ticket queue that doesn’t know your practice

Evensteer

  • Builds the practice, then runs it: AI drafts, a specialist reviews, you approve
  • One connected system, one accountable team
  • A vetted peer network, not a support queue

Most of that 19% bought one more disconnected tool. The gap was never a shortage of options. Nothing connects them.

The math you’re already paying

Doing it yourself isn’t free. It just doesn’t invoice you.

One documented bakery owner spends 10 hours a week creating and posting content. In her words, it’s time taken from “what I’m actually good at.” Put your own numbers in:

$1,700 a month. That’s what the do-it-yourself version already costs you, before a single lead goes unanswered. A written scope with a flat price is the cheaper habit.

Still here next year

Platforms in this space have died and stranded their customers.

Practice.do and Profi have both shut down (CoachAccountable, 2025). The people who ran their business on those platforms lost their system overnight. So buyers in this market no longer just ask “what does it do?” They ask “will you exist next year?”

Fair question. Our answer: independent, revenue-funded, a fixed price on a written scope, and your data exportable from day one. No surprise price hikes, no features quietly moved behind a higher plan, no commission on your clients. If we ever part ways, you leave with everything: your site, your list, your pipeline, your contracts.

Questions

Asked and answered

How much does a marketing agency cost per month?

Marketing agency packages run from about $500 to $5,000 a month. The basics start around $500 to $1,000 a month. Once you add strategy and ads, packages run $2,500 to $5,000. Those are market prices, from a 2026 pricing guide. One owner paid a boutique social agency $24,000 a year. Before you sign, ask what the fee covers and who does the work each week.

What is a marketing retainer?

A marketing retainer is a fixed monthly fee you pay an agency to keep working for you, usually with a minimum term. The fee buys a set amount of work each month, not a result. Agency packages run $500 to $5,000 a month in one 2026 pricing guide. Before you sign, ask how long the contract locks you in. Evensteer works on a written scope with a fixed price, not a retainer.

Is a marketing agency worth it?

An agency is worth it when your marketing isn’t getting done and you can pay a monthly fee for several months. It isn’t worth it if you still have to chase them, or you can’t say what a good result looks like. Evensteer sits between an agency and doing it yourself. A specialist does the work, you approve every piece, and it goes out under your name.
